Project

A study of the mechanisms and thermodynamics of hydrogen storage in Metal-Organic Frameworks to optimise synthesis procedures

Supervisor

The overall aim of this study is to evaluate the potential offered by MOFs for hydrogen storage. The study will investigate the optimization of MOFs for hydrogen adsorption by gaining an understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of hydrogen adsorption in the MOFs. The results will be used to design and synthesize MOFs with optimized hydrogen storage and at reasonable costs with potential to meet the 2017 targets set by the United States Department of Energy.
