Scope for the ICE series:
We continue the success of the first three events: International Conference on Electrolysis, (ICE), ICE 2017 in Copenhagen, Denmark, ICE 2019 in Loen, Norway, and ICE conference at Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, USA, 2022.
The research in all aspects of electrolysis for energy conversion and storage is growing rapidly. Demonstration and commercial installation of electrolysers coupled with renewable energy sources have grown significantly recently.
There is an increased recognition and awareness that the conversion of electrical energy to storable chemicals and fuels is an inevitable part of the green transition from a fossil based to a sustainable energy system.
Hydrogen technologies have a special meaning for South Africa. Most of the PGMs that are needed for the related technologies are mined in South Africa. South Africa also offers excellent sources of renewable energy. Electrolytic green hydrogen generation is also one of the cornerstones of the activities mentioned in the hydrogen society roadmap for South Africa.
The entire ICE conferences are devoted to the topic of electrolysis for energy conversion and are very focused. That makes it ICE 2023 will be the fourth event in South Africa, 27 August – 01 Sep at Sun City, 2023: with a special session for industry and significant African representation. We hope it will be a thriving conference on electrolysis for energy conversion.
We would like to invite you all to contribute to the continued success of the ICE conference series. We will do our utmost to host you all, but only you – the participants – can ensure the quality and success of the conference.
